Summer School Wales 2026

from £2,200

About this course

14th - 24th June 2026, UWC Atlantic, South Wales, UK Atlantic Pacific (AP) are looking for all types of participants to join our 9 day Summer School this year.

If you are someone who is looking to volunteer in the Search and Rescue field and wants to train, or if you have already been volunteering and want to up-skill, then the AP Summer School is the place for you.

We are looking for people who do want to go and volunteer in the immediate to medium-term future, and these people will be prioritised for places.

The Course focuses two elements; First Aid training, working towards achieving our Casualty Care Qualification, which is valid for 3 years and; sea-based Search and Rescue (SAR), learning on our fleet of boats based on the Bristol Channel. Applicants must therefore be comfortable with entering the water.

Fitness will not be tested as part of the Course, but applicants should be able to lift themselves into the boat (this technique can be equated to getting out of a swimming pool without using the steps, and practiced in the same way). Accommodation and catering is included in the cost of the Course as well as any equipment you will need to train.

The Summer School will take place at UWC Atlantic College in South Wales. For insurance purposes, we can only accept applications from those who will be over 18 years of age on the start date of the course. Travel to and from UWC Atlantic is not included in the cost of the course.

The AP Summer School is heavily subsidised by both AP's own charitable activities and several generous funders. We have several scholarships ranging from free of charge to no scholarship (paying full fee). This application form is for those who would like to apply for a scholarship place.

For those that want to book on a full fee paying place - you can do so via the website.
